Learn More about BPW's Program for Military Women |
|
The District of Columbia has been an active part of BPW/USA for over 50 years. As you may have read, BPW/USA was formed by women who were frustrated by employment disparities. From the onset they fought for pay equity and fairness in hiring and promotion practices. These were not women with "letters" or silver spoons. They were ordinary working women who were concerned about advancement for all women in the workplace. Although now there are more "lettered" and high-ranking women in the workplace, eighty years later, women are still fighting for employment equity and fairness. BPW/USA is an active and recognized bipartisan voice on Capitol Hill and at the grassroots level. We work with other recognized organizations such as NOW (the National Organization of Women) and the Fannie Mae Corporation to promote and advocate our issues as well as programs that are designed to improve the quality of life for all and tailored to the needs of the communities we serve. We believe that there is strength in numbers, but there is also strength in voices and dollars. Like most organizations with a compelling mission, we need all three. Our commitment to achieving workplace equity and fairness can be strengthened by your support. We need each other and we need your active participation. Please consider us as a viable path to obtain professional, personal, political, and academic growth. Mission StatementTo achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information. We exist to help women advance their careers and build businesses. To that end, we offer networking opportunities in DC and across the Nation. You get the chance to meet other professional women at events sponsored by BPW/DC and BPW/USA throughout the year. If you are looking to exchange leads, find out what’s happening in DC, share your expertise with others, and connect with your community, BPW/DC is the place to do it. Upcoming Events |
